About Me

John Payne was born in 1962 in Little Rock, AR and grew up in South Louisiana. He developed an interest in art early on, drawing dinosaurs in preschool and later moving on to drawing and painting wildlife and southern landscapes.

In 1982, John enlisted in the US Army where he served in the 101st Airborn. After his service with the army, he pursued his dream and enrolled in the Art Institute of Atlanta where he studied illustration, graphic design, and photography.

In 1988 John moved to Boca Raton, FL where he became skilled at hand painting wallpapers and fabrics. There he created designs and devleoped techniques that he still uses today. He also became an expert framer and learned gilding, conservation, and art restoration. Later he used his talents and started his own business, Artistic Services, and collaborated with designers and galleries.

John relocated back to Arkansas in 2004. You can find his artistic services in many of Hot Springs' most beautiful homes and businesses. John also displays his work at the Collective Artist in Hot Springs.
